I do think that generally greater power draw has to account for some kind of increased motor output, and certainly you're not going to find this amount of power-draw from the similarly priced Kitchenaid. - Quiet. I've had the opportunity to use a couple of different models of Kitchenaid and have listened to others in use, so I was shocked that this mixer basically sounds like its purring when mixing. Even on the highest speed it sounds maybe half as loud as the same speed on a Kitchenaid. This is great for me because I live in an apartment building and don't want to annoy my neighbors! - Fits under my counter, even with the head tilted back. - The bowl has a handle! The lowest priced Kitchenaid lacks a handle and it is quite frustrating trying to hold on to that size bowl and scrape ingredients into a baking dish. - Incorporated all ingredients well. Some reviewers said that they had to scrape the bowl. Well, yeah, what's your point? You have to do this with any mixer. I'm happy to have to scrape the bowl a couple of times if I can get the mixing done quicker. - The head locks in the tilted-back position. On a Kitchenaid the head only locks in place when lowered. When I used a Kitchenaid to make bread and had to remove the dough from the dough hook, I had to hold the mixing head with one hand and try to scrape the dough off the hook with the other hand. With the Hamilton Beach I can use two hands to get all of the dough off of the hook quicker and without the fear that the mixer will fall back down. - The motor is electronically controlled to maintain the same speed under differing conditions. This might seem insignificant at first, but it really is a good thing when mixing heavy doughs where you don't want to mix or knead too fast but the mixer seems like it might get bogged down. All that happens is that the motor changes pitch and the mixer keeps moving right along at a constant speed. This can also be used as a "soft-start" of sorts because you can turn the mixer on to full speed immediately and it will ramp up to the set speed as it determines the load. I don't think it was intended for that, but a neat side effect none the less. Again not a deal-breaker as it still gets things mixed up quite quickly. - Speed 12 doesn't seem to be as fast as a Kitchenaid's speed 10. This is really nit picky but on the highest speed it just doesn't seem as fast as a Kitchenaid. - The flat beater has little "elbows" where the cross bars are. Dry ingredients tend to get stuck in these elbows quite easily and then don't get incorporated. So as you can see it's a very short list of cons. The mixer seems to perform very well and doesn't even get warm when mixing heavy batters. My old 1960s Sunbeam would get bogged down to the point of becoming burning hot on the exterior. And I guess that's what has shocked and pleased me so much about this mixer. It's so much easier to use and does such a better job that I can't imagine using the Sunbeam relic ever again!
